here we are
There's nothing quite like a Tuesday masquerading as a Thursday, eh?
During this week of thankfulness, so far the goodness has been abundant. A Starbucks holiday latte, new cardi, super workout, and mani/pedi with Casey started yesterday right, and I'm already feeling like today is going to be another good one.
With family time just around the corner, not much can bring me down at this point - I'm thinking about adding "eye brow wax" to my list of exciting events - and let's be serious, that's not exactly the most pleasant of all happenings.
I hope yourTuesday Thursday is happy, too!

stars & silence
Whenever I leave the city, I'm shocked to find how much I miss a more rural environment. Shocked not because it's unexpected, as corn fields were more common than Biber kids growing up, but because I don't really realize how much I miss it until I'm in it.
Friday night, eight of us headed up to Lindsey's mountain house, where the sky sparkled like glitter with stars, and I found myself constantly wanting to take deep breaths, just to taste the fresh air. We spent the evening withgood cheap wine and good conversation, and I desperately wanted to stay longer as we packed up the car Saturday.
Not the case.
A Silent Disco is where everyone has wireless headphones to listen to the music. Which means you walk in and everyone is dancing, like crazy, in silence. Hesitant I may have been at first, but by the end, I was loving life.
Not known as the best dancer, I loved that there were two stations to listen to, and therefore someone watching me didn't necessarily know which song I was on. My moves didn't match their music? Clearly I was jamming to something else (see photo below - background = go to move).
Additionally, as the night progressed and everyone loosened up, people started singing out loud. So when you removed your headphones you heard people singing loudly, in unison to a song that didn't appear to be playing.
And in a slightly less foreign venue, I wrapped up the weekend babysitting, and if you could end the weekend with these peanuts, you'd be in a state of bliss, too...
I felt conflicted last night, as I was sad to see such a fun weekend end, but also really excited to get this week going in order to transport myself to Indiana Wednesday. I must say that wanting to stay in the present, yet itching for the week to come, is a pretty nice way to end a weekend.

However, I was pleasantly surprised upon my return, as a group of my friends went to a Silent Disco. I'm not sure if I've missed some sort of memo on these things, but I had no idea what I was walking into, to the point that before going I Googled the band Silent Disco. When very few results turned up, I decided they must just be pretty new, and therefore I was about to find myself on the cutting edge of music.
Not the case.

gobble giddy
I need to revise yesterday's post. Not because I'm not still rain giddy. I am. In fact, there was a tornado warning today, which awkwardly made me even more excited. Not in a destructive, weird way, but because it reminds me of when I was little and the seven of us would pile in 100 Willow's basement, flashlights and candles in hand (where Duke would inevitably blow them out with a Happy Birthday!).
However, I realized that my hyperness is truly stemming from the fact that Thanksgiving is one week away. I'm so excited to go home and see my friends and family! I don't know how I'm going to make it through a full week of this, as I'm fairly certain my entire cubby has been bouncing every day at work, and my friends are probably getting annoyed of my emails (subject lines: What are our plans for Wednesday night?/216 hours!/Download Fight for You and memorize it by next week/Can you all please stop playing hard to get?). For real.
I'm going to try to reign it in over the next few days, or else I might reach my Gmail capacity and also get a calf cramp from bouncing my leg up and down at my desk all day.
167 hours until I land in Indy!
I can't wait to see these fine people :) Among a bajillion others. EEK!

mad carving skills
"Man, this is bad! And I've had my share of bad reviews. I still remember my first good one, though. 'Everything else in this production of Our Town was simply terrible. Joey Tribbiani was abysmal.'" Joey, Friends
During the course of the last year, there have been multiple occasions on which I probably should have gone to the hospital due to serious knife injuries to my hands. One of which resulted in me having my left hand wrapped and immobilized for an entire week.
My knife skills are abysmal.
To the point that every time I'm home and cutting things in front of my parents, they're guaranteed to say under their breaths, simultaneously, "didn't I teach you to use a knife?" as I cut toward myself and miss my skin by a hair.
Yet somehow, last night at family dinner with my friends, I ended up helping carve the turkey. We had a Thanksgiving feast, complete with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and apple crisp.
Regardless of the questionable carving, it was a lovely night.
And although it goes against my normal practice, we put on Christmas music during dinner. While I may have spent the first half of the meal trying to think of any Thanksgiving song known to man in order to postpone Jingle Bell Rock just a little longer, the combination of good friends + gobble feasting + Christmas music got me primed for the holiday season. I cannot wait to go home and see my family next week. Di! Do you think my they'll want me to carve the turkey there, too?
Here's to one full week of work before the holiday season begins! Happy Monday!

gobbleskidoo!
A few weeks ago, Lily asked Court, "Mama, isn't it about that time to get out the Thanksgiving plates?"
And although I was more focused on wondering what four year old remembers using plates one time, almost a full year later, I also realized that it is, in fact, time to put away the Halloween decor and start loving on Thanksgiving.
And this Oh Joy! collage is the perfect way to start. I want that plate and I want to share it with Lily.
Eee I'm just so thankful for Thanksgiving.

It's the great pumpkin, Charlie Brown
I don't claim that I'm exactly the best movie watcher. In fact, I admit that I might be one of the worst around. I don't typically have the highest level of patience for sitting still for two hours.
I've never been tempted by the idea of going to the theatres and paying for one movie but seeing two. In fact, I'm rarely tempted by the idea of going go the movies at all, let alone doing it twice (something might be wrong with me).
However, if there was adouble triple feature I could get down for, it would definitely be the Peanuts Deluxe Holiday Collection.
Every year, from Thanksgiving to Christmas, my dad plays the Charlie Brown Christmas album in the mornings. I love waking up to the smell of fresh coffee and the sounds of Vince Guaraldi.
Although I didn't even like cartoons when I was a little kid (seriously something is wrong with me), the memories the music conjures makes these movies easily some of the best films around.
When I saw the holiday collection on sale this week at Uncrate, I was so happy.
I can't believe Halloween is just a few days away - and before we know it the sounds of gobbling turkeys, jingle bells ringing and Vince Guaraldi singling will be filling the house again. We better enjoy this 70 degree weather for as long as possible.
