life lately

Happy Wednesday readerfriends! I haven't done many life updates lately, so I thought I'd share some around these parts. Here's some of the good stuff from the last few weeks:

Sharing: On Robyn's blog today. Go check her out :) She has awesome words to share.

Loving: My Fresh Harvest (c/o) veggies. Siberian Kale came in my most recent box and it was unreal fresh. It was easily the best kale I've ever had. Yep! Best ever. (If you're new around here, get the download/a referral code for Fresh Harvest.)

Eating: I recently made this Sriracha Lime Chicken salad for Chris and I and it rocked our worlds. Nothing says fresh like grilled pineapple. Hello spring!

Reading: The Cuckoo's Calling and Scary Close. Too soon to share my thoughts, but so far, so good!

Obsessing: Over the Espresso Pull Bar at Argosy in Atlanta. I went with some girls for brunch last Saturday and tried the Original. Holy cow. Espresso, coconut milk, almond milk and chocolate. Needless to say, it was like a dessert. And amazing!

Rejoicing: That spring has arrived {and April!}. I head to the beach with my family this weekend to celebrate my mom's birthday and couldn't be more excited about it.

Happy day! Do good out there!

spring sprang

Mother nature has been so good to us lately. Warming up our souls with lots of sunshine and happiness.

Last night after dinner, Katie and I went for a walk and had wine time. Totting around our sweet neighborhood with her puppy, we were both cheesing like fools. Spring is here; our hearts are happy. We'll be poolside before we know it.

Here's to hoping it will stick around through the weekend. I spy lots of park time and a surplus of Vitamin D (fingers crossed!).

Happy Friday to you!

it's spring in atlanta!

And festival season has begun!

This weekend we went to Oysterfest at Steamhouse Lounge and it.was.great.

Nothing says spring in Atlanta like weekend after weekend full of festivals.

Just because I don't eat oysters doesn't mean I can't love on the season.

Oh happy :)

bright&happy thursday

Am I in trouble? This morning I thought: I'm kind of ready for spring clothes...

I haven't even worn tights yet this season! I've barely even busted out my favorite cardis! I've still got piles of layers to work through...!

Although, I think it's more just a matter of wanting to wear bright colors - whether it be a kini or a coat need not matter.

So today, clad in a coral belt and neon headband, I greet you with a little extra spring in my step. Here's to a neon November!

Oh man. How much do these pencils make you want to color!?

yaay! yaay! yaay!

It's April! I am so happy about this, and here's why you should be, too...

1. We are in the month of the Royal Wedding! Which means we will soon get to see all of Kate Middleton's fabulous choices. The dress, the flowers, the bridesmaids...ah!
2. Spring is rilly rilly here, and it's here to stay. It's going to be 81 and sunny this weekend and I have a good feeling we won't see Jack Frost again for a looong time. Time to get out those skirts&dresses!
3. It's baseball season! Although I can't pretend I watch it on TV, I absolutely love (love!) going to Braves games. The Home Opener is one week from today and I am super excited about it.
4. I have a month full of special visitors! My mom, Allie and Sara are all coming to stay with me and I can't wait to play hostess.
By the way, it's totally April's style to start out on Friday. So fun.

spring weekend?

I don't know if I've ever felt this way about winter, but January is flying by.  Is it seriously halfway over this weekend?

Even though there are about a million (for real) things I'm looking forward to from now until spring, and I'm certainly not wishing the time away, these spring things have me smitten.

Would it be inappropriate to wear a sundress out this weekend?

Stripes in the winter?

Why not?

Check out my post on incorporating the springiest of styles into your winter wardrobe. Happy striping!

yearn baby yearn

In case Friday's post didn't convince you, I thought I'd add a little more springspiration. I'm loving the retro and ruffles.  Anyone care for a dip?

winter be gone

Now that the holidays are over, and we've broken the 65 degree mark, I'm officially done with winter (a little early, eh?).

I can't dress in summer clothing just yet, and a beach vacation is not in my immediate future.  But my spring fever has my aching for warmer weather.

I decided to take control of the situation by purging my apartment of all things winter.  The first item to go was my evergreen scented candle.  I was completely addicted to it leading up to Christmas, but by January 1, the smell of it was driving me wild.

In a desperate attempt, I switched it out for my Sun and Sand candle. Discreet, right?

Although I love the beachy smell, I'm still lusting after a Kringle Candle. Every scent is white, which means my yummy fall pumpkin candle wouldn't have clashed so badly with the decor of my apartment. Today I'm dreaming of the French Lavender scent. I'm sure it smells amazingly springy, and I don't have to worry about it being a wild shade of purple.

Genius, I tell you. Genius.

Whimsical Wednesday {Spring into Christmas}

I realize I was just talking about my winter wonderland on Monday, but it's supposed to be nearly 60 degrees at the end of this week, and I've got a case of spring fever.

While I may have said the snow was making me feel Christmasy, the balmy weather certainly isn't dampering my spirits.  In fact, it has me dreaming of mixing my holiday traditions with my favorite spring activities...
1. What's springier than a bike ride? And what's holidayier than sending cards? These are perfect combination. Not to mention how much I love that Charlie Brown Christmas tree in the basket.
2. This nautical tote screams spring. And yet it's candy cane striped. How happy is that?
3. A hot cup of something might warm you up on winter day, but this drink makes my heart flutter.

Ten more days!

Spring to summer weekend

Even though it's not yet Memorial Day, the events of this weekend (and the perfect weather) are making me think it's appropriate to act summerish.

I consider this to be the last weekend of spring and I fully intend to indulge. If you need me, I'll be outside. Happy weekend!

la-paz-itively-hot

At 80 and sunny, I think I can officially say it's spring in Indiana. Tulips are popping, our house is dancing with sunlight, and I drove to work with my windows down (and sandals on!).

This weekend will be marked by margaritas for Kelsey's birthday, free concerts downtown for the Final Four, runs with Duke and Sam, and nights out in dresses and no tights.

Sara and I decided to kick off the lovely spring weekend with manicures and sushi last night. Although I can safely say Sara can paint my nails much better than the ladies of the $15 mani, there's something so indulgent about getting it done. We both felt a little sunkissed from an afternoon outside and as we sat in the salon catching up, it took us back to the sweet days of summer.

Much to our surprise, the sushi restaurant was also offering BOGO martinis. Another opportunity to indulge?

After one each, we were debating round two when a creepy sir sat down at our table. Needless to say, after 20 minutes of him swearing that his friend used to be the "number one shooting coach in the NBA", we were ready for round two. Ultimately, he decided he couldn't trust us, because "his mom always told him not to believe a girl with pink nails." Who knew that little mani-indulgence would lead to such great luck?

Happy spring weekend :)

love

I'm about to explode with excitement for spring and although these are slightly out of my budget, I think these Lanvin Pom Pom Espadrille's express my sentiment. Don't tell me these wouldn't put a little pep in your step...

Under the umbrella tree

It's National Umbrella Month and today's thunderstormy weather is the perfect opportunity to celebrate.

Along with my love for Hunter's is my love for umbrellas*. There are a few keys to successful umbrella-ing.

The first is that the umbrella is sturdy. It's the worst when you're caught in a storm and it flips inside out and breaks. Or, when you pull it out of your tote and it won't open at all.

Davek umbrellas are durable and come with a lifetime guarantee. They're offered in a variety of sizes and colors, too. Who could be grumpy about the rain when carrying a kiwi umbrella?
The second key is that the umbrella doesn't ruin your outfit.

I love the Double Sided Lola Dot from Umbrellas.net. I have a real soft spot for secrets and I'd love to have a different pattern on the inside. You want to know what's under my umbrella? You'll have to share it with me...
And I'd be lying if I didn't admit that I love the Burberry Check Compact Umbrella. Flashy? Maybe. But with a black trench, like the Kenneth Cole New York Trapunto Stitched Coat, there's no denying you'd be fabulous.

*It's time to come clean. I don't just love umbrellas and rain boots. I love all accessories. Rainy day, sunny day, resort wear, office wear, indoor, outdoor - even camping. I love them all. This should be considered as you trust my judgement in the future.

zippity doo-dah

It's sunny and warm and everyone around me is just giddy! Even when there is work to be done, the hint of spring makes it so much easier to do.

Even though (my mom says) I'm not allowed to wear my spring clothes yet, I'm still dreaming of banishing my tights and going full-throttle on resort-wear.

As usual, I just can't get enough of Kate Spade.

Don't these dresses make you just want to go on a picnic?
Or maybe on a fun date to the zoo?

I love spring!

April showers bring May flowers

March gives me hope. The abyss that is winter is coming to an end. The days are getting longer, the sun is getting brighter and the grass is getting greener.

And in addition to the more present sun (today for example) are the thunderstorms. They make me so giddy for summer storms. And they make me more productive. Stuck inside? Why not clean out a closet!?

However, for the days when I'm feeling less productive and more adventurous, it's fun to get out. There's something so invigorating about splashing through a big puddle in rain boots. I'm admittedly obsessed with Hunter Wellies. I keep going back and forth on what color to buy, which leads to more obsessing as I try to pick.

Practicality tells me to go with navy, as they would go with the opposite half of my wardrobe that my black rainboots go with. However, I also love red and turquoise - and graphite and violet and really all of them...

Hence, my struggle. However, even with this beautiful rainbow of options before me, there's no denying the pure joy that the Gold pair would bring. In these babies, you'd sparkle on a rainy day. You'd light up the street. You'd definitely show that deep puddle who's boss.

Oh, so many decisions.
